Rally and Safety Info

The 2007 Coppermines Grizedale Stages runs on Saturday 8 th December only with 1 st car starting at 09:30hrs from Coniston Main Car Park. First up are 2 stages in Grizedale West, a 9.7 miler which leads virtually straight into a 8.2 miler. That should get you warmed up!! Then it's off to Park Coppice caravan site for a 30 minute service. Then up to Broughton Moor for the short (2.5 miles) "Dunnerdale" stage which is dove-tailed in at 30 seconds for the second run. Then it's a return to Park Coppice for the second 30 minute service halt which is followed by a 30 minute Re-group to close up the gaps caused by those of you who have fallen off!! The last two stages are a repeat of stages 1 and 2 in Grizedale West, then a short run back to the finish in Coniston Main Car Park.

In total the stage mileage is 41 and road mileage is 39. If it all goes to plan you finish 4hrs 50mins after you've started. The LAST car is scheduled to finish at 15:50hrs, so providing it all runs to plan there should be no need to bring auxiliary lights

We're not being difficult when we say “no chase cars”. The roads around here are very narrow and two-way traffic is a certain accident waiting to happen so please don't bring a chase car, apart from anything the route always uses the shortest and most downhill road section to get you back to service!

Safety Notes from Pattersons will be available, although Pine Lodge Maps for the road sections and stages are provided FOC in each competitor pack.

Interim results will be available at the "In" control at Service A and Regroup Out. Provisional results will be on display at John Ruskin School, Lake Road, Coniston once competitors have finished. Food and beer is available here as well

We can assure competitors – or rather, winners – that the awards will revert to our usual locally-sourced slate trophies this year.

Accommodation in Coniston is limited. Yes that is true but remember that it's a holiday village so there are more hotels, B&B's, self-catering cottages etc than you'd expect. Just book early!!! Of course, our sponsor this year - Coppermines - may be able to help. Park Coppice caravan site will NOT let crews stay overnight in caravans and camper vans.
